GCoop: B-Corporation

Updated: Oct 23, 2018

GCoop is the marketing and distribution branch for General Bio Corporation.

GCoop: a Global Cooperative

General Bio was founded in 2007 as an R&D manufacturing company for health, cosmetics, and personal products. It was founded under CEO Jeong Hun Seo. 2015 marked the year when General Bio received B-Corp Certification. What is the importance of being certified as a B-Corporation? First of all it gives validity to the company in that it actually does what it says.

There are five areas where the non-profit B-Lab organization evaluates the company:

  1. Environmental Activities

  2. Working Conditions

  3. Distribution Structure

  4. Community Activities

  5. Corporate Governance

When a company passes with a score of 80 and above, it receives its B-Corp Certification. Certified B Corporations meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Over 2650 companies are registered as a B-Corp and such companies affirm that people are using business as a force for good.
